Kirk Beasley
Kirk Beasley was born into a music business family in Nashville, Tennessee. His father, a gifted songwriter and record producer, built one of the first recording studios there and co-founded the Republic, Tennessee, Hit, Spar, and Modern Sound record labels, to name a few. Kirk’s mother was a successful songwriter and singer, who with his father founded and administered three music publishing companies.
Some of Kirk’s earliest memories are of recording sessions. He was a voice actor at the age of twelve and began playing and singing on recordings in his early teens. He began writing songs for Nashville music publishers at age 15. He worked a number of years in the Nashville music industry as a songwriter, bass player, recording engineer, and record producer.
In addition, Kirk is a graduate of Vanderbilt University. At Vanderbilt he met and was inspired by a number of the Fugitive Poets, who included Allen Tate and Robert Penn Warren. He was encouraged to write literary fiction by Jesse Wills, the youngest of the Fugitive Poets. His first novel, Parable of the Rich Man, was published by DWM Press in 2016.
After careers in the recording, musical instrument, and television industries he moved to Hawai`i where he continued to write songs and stories. And he took up surfing.
He now resides in County Limerick, Ireland.
